UEW Releases Courses To Be Offered As Top-Up For Teachers With Diploma Certificate -[Check Out]

Our earlier report indicated a move has been made by GNAT, GES, Ministry of Education and the Universities offering Education programmes to run a sandwich top-up programme for all teachers who hold a Diploma in Basic Education (DBE).

Also, today we bring to you some of the courses to be offered and the mode of assessment through which learners will be assessed.

The program is a B.Ed. Top-Up Sandwich designed to cover a duration of 4 Sessions (2 sessions in a year). There are three specialisms (options) on offer, namely:

1.Early Grade

2. Upper Primary

3. JHS (Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, TVET/ Music& Dance/ PE, Literacy and Languages SEN, and ICT)

The underneath is will be the mode of assessment for learners who wish to apply for the top-up programme when the opportunity window opens.

Mode of Assessment

Presentation/Seminar – 20%

Exercises – 10%

Quiz – 10%

Mid Semester Exam – 20%

End-of-Semester Exam – 40%

Credit Hours Per Semester (Session)

Allocation of Credit hour per Semester follows the University Policy on Internal and External programs, and they are distributed as follows:

Early Grade
Session 1 – 21

Session 2 – 21

Session 3 – 18

Session 4 – 15

Total Credit Hrs – 75

2. Upper Primary

Session 1 – 18

Session 2 – 24

Session 3 – 18

Session 4 – 12

Total Credit Hrs – 60

3.JHS

Session 1 – 18

Session 2 – 24

Session 3 – 18

Session 4 – 18

Total Credit Hrs – 78

However, the courses have been scheduled according to sessions as follows:

Session 1

Students are required to take two (2) courses from their major (specialism) and another two (2) courses for their minor.

Session 2

Students are required to take three (3) courses from their major (specialism) and another two (2) courses for their minor.

Session 3

Students are required to take two (2) courses from their major (specialism) and another two (2) courses for their minor.

Session 4

Students are required to take two (2) courses from their major (specialism) and another two (2) courses for their minor.
